Goodbye.

Goodbye

I have never been able to just let go.
Just loosen my fingers and let it slip away.
Anything that I’m no longer holding on to, has been flattened out from my death grip.
Stretched and pulled from either end.
Scratches dragged across it as my nails dug in deep.
My fingerprints implanted all over it.
I don’t have to think about what could have been.
My broken nails and bleeding knuckles show me that it couldn’t have been.
I never just let go.

Never been the first to say it…
And you can never say I didn’t try.
